MetroSport Fitness Programs:

At MetroSport, we offer each new member an individual orientation to the club's facilities.  A personal trainer will escort you through the orientation and demonstrate the proper usage of all our fitness equipment.  We also offer fitness testing and alternative exercise classes including Yoga, PACE circuit training, Pilates and Qi Gong.  Fitness equipment includes Cybex strength equipment, bikes, treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, stair machines, Hammerstrength and rowers. MetroSport Fitness Department:

Greetings and welcome to the fitness department at MetroSport Athletic Club. We at MetroSport pride ourselves on being the most complete service-oriented health club in the Triangle Area. We offer a variety of activities and programs for every fitness enthusiast. Whether you enjoy swimming laps in our temperature controlled pool, lifting weights, taking a step aerobics class, participating in a yoga or Pilates class, or meeting a friend for a competitive game of racquetball or squash, MetroSport offers activities for every individual. The only question you may have is, "What type of exercise do I feel like doing today?".

At MetroSport we have an array of exercise equipment from which our members may choose. Our cardiovascular equipment consists of the following:

  • Quinton and Cybex treadmills

  • Elliptical cross-trainers

  • Stairmaster freeclimbers

  • Lifecycle bikes

  • Cybex and LifeFitness recumbent bikes

  • Concept II rowers

  • Steppers

  • Stairmaster cross-trainer

Our weight training equipment is distributed throughout six rooms. Our select area is equipped with the popular Cybex circuit, which is considered to be one of the best brands on the market. We have an extensive free weight area consisting of a variety of machines, benches, and dumbbells.

In addition, we have introduced the PACE circuit training program to our club. If you are the type of person who has a busy schedule and is short on time, but also wants a motivating whole body workout, then PACE is for you! The concept behind PACE is simple; it's a program designed to give you a full body workout in a short period of time. Emphasis in placed on toning and firming your muscles, but at the same time you are burning calories and fat. In addition, you won't feel any soreness the next day. This is due to the fact that there is no eccentric (lengthening) contraction. It's a fun and motivating workout.

 

Orientation:

As part of your MetroSport membership, you are entitled to an orientation session by one of our experienced fitness professionals. The purpose of the orientation is to instruct you on safe and proper use of cardiovascular equipment and to provide you with an overview of the Cybex and free weight equipment. Incentive Programs:

Throughout the year, we implement a variety of challenging programs designed to keep your workouts fun and motivating. Most of these programs are goal-oriented and created to help you meet your fitness goals. Check the downstairs bulletin board and fitness counter for more information on these programs.
